Is an online pharmacy that is not accredited by PharmacyChecker unsafe?
The PharmacyChecker Verification Program is a voluntary credentialing program in which online pharmacies can choose to have their pharmacy evaluated for strict online pharmacy practice standards and licensure. If an online pharmacy that was once accredited by PharmacyChecker is no longer, it means it is not currently monitored by PharmacyChecker and either
(1) it chose to leave our program, or
(2) it has its accreditation revoked due to noncompliance.
Accreditation of Online Pharmacies
Online pharmacies are only deemed "accredited" if they meet and continue to meet our online pharmacy practice standards. Through the PharmacyChecker Verification Program, we evaluate and verify the qualifications and credentials of online pharmacies, and monitor their compliance with our standards on an ongoing basis.
Dangerous Online Pharmacies
Most online pharmacies do not meet our program standards, and most of the tens of thousands of online pharmacies are not certified by any credentialing group.
Unfortunately, many online pharmacies, many referred to as rogue online pharmacies, do not process orders through licensed pharmacies, illegally and unethically sell controlled substances (addictive drugs), do not require a valid prescription or any prescription at all, intentionally sell counterfeit or adulterated medication, do not safeguard patients' financial and health information, and/or steal people's identities.
We strongly recommend that you stick to online pharmacies accredited and continuously monitored by a certification group but, of course, we have a special preference for PharmacyChecker.com.
