White Plains, New York – June 28, 2021 – PharmacyChecker.com announces today that the company has hired Jeffrey Poirier, RPh, MBA, as Vice President of Pharmacy Verification and Information. Mr. Poirier will lead and oversee the PharmacyChecker Verification Program, through which online pharmacies, international and domestic, are assessed for compliance with PharmacyCheker’s accreditation standards. Through monitoring and enforcing online pharmacy safety and continually improving quality standards in an evolving international marketplace for prescription drugs, Mr. Poirier furthers PharmacyChecker’s mission to provide the information and guidance necessary for patients, caregivers, and providers to navigate online access to affordable medication. PharmacyChecker information plays a critical role for people who cannot afford domestic pharmacy prices and seek access to lower-priced medicines internationally.
Mr. Poirier brings over 30 years of leadership experience in a wide range of health care settings, including serving as Vice President of Operations for Maxor National Pharmacy Services and as Compliance Inspector for the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy. Mr. Poirier most recently served as the Sterile Compounding Supervisor and Staff Pharmacist at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, New Hampshire. In that role, Poirier developed a U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) 797 compliant sterile compounding program including a complete policy and procedure manual. He developed multiple Continuous Quality Improvement projects and led a team of pharmacists in the development of a pharmacists-based medication reconciliation program. This program was designed to utilize the knowledge and experience of pharmacists to increase the safety and accuracy of the patient’s medications through transitions of care in the inpatient setting.
"The United States’ maze of regulations and oversight can be daunting for the consumer, and neither the government nor the pharmaceutical industry is willing to help those who need the most affordable online pharmacy options, which are overwhelmingly international for brand name drugs,” Poirier said. “Having a resource like PharmacyChecker is essential for patients to avoid rogue websites. A dedicated team, following a standardized process to validate only those online pharmacies meeting high standards, can provide the security needed to keep the customer stay safe.”
“Mr. Poirier’s deep understanding of regulatory compliance along with his passion for patient advocacy aligns with PharmacyChecker.com's own mission to help consumers find safe and affordable medication,” stated Gabriel Levitt, president of PharmacyChecker.
Despite the regulatory restrictions on ordering prescription drugs from Canada or other countries, 20 million Americans have imported prescription drugs for personal use due to the egregious costs at U.S. pharmacies. PharmacyChecker accreditation of online pharmacies helps them do so safely.
